400hp, AWD, great styling. It seems to me they are finally starting to move in the right direction. (in all honesty I liked the previous MKZ too.) So what if the engine is probably transfer so is the Evo engine and everyone loves that.

I am very impressed with the 400hp AWD. In a Fusion sized car, it out to be a flat-out rocketship.
But the styling. My God. It’s equal parts “Let’s do exactly what everyone else is doing” and “Let’s make it ugly and awkward”. Outgoing styling was actually quite good, I feel like this is a step backwards.
Hopefully it’s a good enough car to overcome that. I want to like it, especially with those power figures.

The ugliest Jaguar I’ve ever seen.
![]() 11/18/2015 at 09:35 |

Nah, this is great, they’re merging the Continental face into a brand.
The rest of the car had to keep the same overall shape as it’s an update not an “All new”.
400 hp and AWD, damn man the last MKZ was sneaky fast, this is great.

I can’t get behind anything but the power, and I don’t know how well they’re going to be able to use all of it given the MKZ’s roots. The styling from the front to back just doesn’t flow right and there’s way too much Jaguar in that front end. I much prefer the previous/current design, lack of 400 horsepower be damned.

I too liked the old styling. But I like this styling as well. The Lincoln MKZ has always been a car that has to be judged in person. I can’t wait to see it at Detroit.
And those power figures are awesome. I can't wait to see what the magazines think about it.
![]() 11/18/2015 at 09:38 |

They couldn’t change the whole car, just the front, it’s a mid-cycle change not a full new car. Oh, and it’ll use that 400 well. Don’t you remember when they swapped good tires on the last MKZ and ran an M5 in a slalom course? The MKZ was a sleeper with the right rubber, watch out for it now.
![]() 11/18/2015 at 09:39 |

Just because they have a new corporate face doesn’t make it not ugly.

Is it really already time for a refresh on the Zephyr? (I refuse to stop calling it that)
I really like the current one, as much as it resembles a giant last-gen Civic — in a good way. But this looks like a Chinese upscale knockoff, with Jag grille and Audi headlights. It’s missing a certain uniqueness in the details.
![]() 11/18/2015 at 09:41 |

I liked the old styling too but I can get behind this. It looks great and the horsepower is is great. 400hp is just about perfect

My only issue is the headlights and then I could learn to be ok with them.
I’ve seen far worse.

Something seems off here, but I’m not sure what.
Also, the wheels should be spiraling the other direction.

Am I the only one who thought this was the MKS replacement? From what I read a few months ago, ford is trying to migrate the Taurus/MKS to an enlarged fusion platform ?
![]() 11/18/2015 at 09:53 |

Needs MOAR grill, lower. (Crude Paint chop). The fact that it then looks like a mix of a ‘60 and a ‘49 on acid is completely coincidental, I assure you.

Still hoping they get back to calling it the Zephyr. It really needs the name change.

I want to like it, but I prefer the old mkz body
![]() 11/18/2015 at 10:05 |

Feels pretty phoned-in to me. Slapping a concept nose on an old and aging model and expecting it to look even more aged is a common mistake with FoMoCo.

Found something for you (off-topic):

Guy has an absolutely legendary FoMoCo convertible collection. Specifically the *4* ‘40-’50 model Lincolns, all in black.

Would this bring hope for a Fusion ST?
![]() 11/18/2015 at 10:14 |

I think it's the fact that that line on the doors (which is really the line the windows follow) doesn't meet up with the line/gap that the hood forms. It looks a bit awkward.

Not bad.

Even if your opinion is wrong
lol
![]() 11/18/2015 at 10:57 |

That is poorly done, I’ll agree on that.
But.
It IS a mid-cycle change not a full “new car” that’s why things like this happen. Not giving an excuse, it could’ve been done better, just giving an explanation.

I like this. This is also my motto.
![]() 11/18/2015 at 11:08 |

In all honesty I liked the pre facelift styling more but how can you not want a 400hp sedan? That is awesome
![]() 11/18/2015 at 11:09 |

I agree there is something about those headlights... But with 400hp I can deal with them

Good point.

I love the look of those wheels.
![]() 11/18/2015 at 11:10 |

I am not sure where you read that. And I know this is a major refresh. It almost could be a totally new car. But I think they are killing the MKS after this one.
![]() 11/18/2015 at 11:12 |

If you look at it sides it looks kinda like a modern Tesla when you do that
![]() 11/18/2015 at 11:12 |

I do too but I prefer this cars engine
![]() 11/18/2015 at 11:13 |

It isn’t that old. Maybe three years max? And it has a new powertrain. The days of old FoMoCo are long past
![]() 11/18/2015 at 11:14 |

I hope not. I want this to stay a Lincoln specific engine
![]() 11/18/2015 at 11:15 |

What plant is it gonna have because if it’s the same 4cyl as the RS and Mustang EcoBoost Imagine the rally mode with it....
![]() 11/18/2015 at 11:15 |

Holy crap that is an awesome collection. A 41 Continental even!
![]() 11/18/2015 at 11:16 |

I guess because the current batch of 300hp cars vs Lincoln’s 400hp aren’t that much different in day-to-day usage...and also because I hate sedans, but I can appreciate them aesthetically.
Literally, if they offered a wagon version to compete with BMW or Mercedes, I’d seriously consider it. But I’ve gotten to the point in my life where trunks just seem like such a cop-out or compromise.

3.0 Twin turbo V6 I think

I’m up for 400hp, but ruined its nice, smooth styling.

It is defiantly worth a look that is for sure

Do it! Do it! (Although it would cost almost as much as the car.)
![]() 11/18/2015 at 11:50 |

I’ll definitely keep my eyes open for a budget Six Pack style manifold, because triple twos is just cool. Apparently one for an FE V8 would also line up, but because FE engines don’t have a separate valley cover, I’d have to grind a lot of metal off the bottom to make it fit, probably.
![]() 11/18/2015 at 11:57 |

Really? Interesting I never knew that. There is a really good MEL forum that might be able to tell you how to do it.
![]() 11/18/2015 at 12:00 |
|
Yeah, it could've been done better but I don't really care mainly because it's not my kind of car anyway, and as someone else pointed out, the wheel "spirals" going in the opposite direction of their intended rotation bothers me more than the adjoining door/hood lines.
![]() 11/18/2015 at 12:22 |
|
Pretty sure they’re borrowing it from the focus rs.
![]() 11/18/2015 at 12:30 |
|
It’s possible, though, that my best price will still end up being on a MEL manifold. Other than early squarebird dudes, Mercury dudes, antique ChrisCraft boat dudes, and Lincoln dudes of a limited scope, there’s not a raging demand on for MEL stuff, where there absolutely is for FE. Three times the supply with triple the demand evens out about the same place on the S/D curve.
Anyway, here’s what the Holley Tri-Power setup looks like on such a manifold:
And on an FE:

This bugs me, it just seems unnecessarily sloppy, as if they forced a BMW E39 hood onto a Fusion. Not an awful looking car otherwise.

400hp/400ft.lbs.
![]() 11/18/2015 at 13:18 |

Nope that is a 2.3L engine the one in the MKZ is a 3.0 V6
![]() 11/18/2015 at 13:19 |

That does look damn good. You need to get the MEL unstuck though first.
![]() 11/18/2015 at 13:20 |

Yeah that is on the forum I was talking about. Something I always wished was that the valve covers were decorated. But that is the forum to use to find good parts I think.
![]() 11/18/2015 at 13:21 |

That hood line is a little different. it worked better with the pre facelift.
![]() 11/18/2015 at 13:51 |

Ah gotcha. Lincoln did l definitely needs a feature out engine that’s uniquely theirs. I agree with that. Everyone sees it as a Fusion, which I hope they can shake.
![]() 11/18/2015 at 14:42 |

I like this more. Yeah it’s a bit oddball, but at least it something different.

I am sad to see the different styling go away. But I am excited about 400hp!

I like the faux-Continental styling, but it looks like a Seat.
